Artistic Relations Committee
With the growth of Kashtan and the addition of Zorya, the UCAA has found a need for a new committee. In July at the Annual Meeting, the UCAA Board of Trustees along with the UCAA members created the Artistic Relations Committee which serves to bridge the gap between the UCAA and its affiliates. I am proud to be serving as the Artistic Administrator!
My committee and I will be working very closely with both Kashtan and Zorya to facilitate their administrative functions such as performance and production details, registration and audition assistance, inventory/costume maintenance, and providing overall support to their groups and members. We also look forward to working with these talented performers throughout the year and cannot wait to cheer them on at future performances!
Another addition to the UCAA is the reestablishment of Zorya, now, under the direction of returning Artistic Director Natalia Mahlay. Welcome back!
Summer vacation is behind us and fall is in full swing with a new school year that has a lot in store! The Kashtan School of Ukrainian Dance has hit the ground running! Under the direction of Artistic Director Diana Prodan and Assistant Director Jon Hejnal, Kashtan had a very successful registration! In addition to the four classes of students which make up the school, the Artistic Staff have also reestablished the performing ensemble! The performing ensemble is comprised of alumni dancers, young adults, and very talented high school students who auditioned for this elite group. The performing ensemble will perform the smaller scale performances at local venues so as not to take away class time from students enrolled in the school who are preparing for larger productions. Auditions for the performing ensemble will be held annually and will give students enrolled in the school something to look forward to in their dancing future! The performing ensemble has already performed at four weddings this school year and were greatly enjoyed by all audiences!
If you are interested in becoming involved with the Artistic Relations Committee, please contact me at 216-287-9166 or cmv.brown.1@gmail.com. We are especially looking for parent volunteers who are interested in helping with costume maintenance, backstage support during performances, and parents who would be interested in chaperoning/traveling to overnight performances.
